Everyone is talking about ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ nowadays. And for all the good reasons, too. It ranks among the most expensive films ever produced. The masses loved the first installment and the sequels seem to serve the fans in an even bigger way. The element of water surely connects the film to another classic one, ‘Titanic‘. Additionally, Kate Winslet has been a part of both movies. Recently, Winslet smashed Tom Cruise‘s record for the longest breath hold underwater. Now, the notion of doing anything even remotely close to what Tom Cruise does in his films is absurd, let alone the idea of outplaying him. But Kate Winslet accomplished the unthinkable. She far outperformed the ‘Mission Impossible’ star in his record of holding his breath underwater for 6 minutes. Even Joe Rogan talked about this in his most recent JRE episode, and he was astounded to learn how long Winslet held her breath.

After Rogan brought it up on his show, this Kate Winslet stunt elicited a number of reactions from the fans. And as impressed as many are, some fans still managed to somehow bring up ‘Titanic’ and Leonardo DiCaprio in response to it.

Fans react to Kate Winslet’s record after Joe Rogan discussed it
In the episode #1913 of The Joe Rogan Experience, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ became the point of discussion at one point. The conversation primarily started off with how the movie was. Soon it transitioned toward the mammoth task Kate Winslet performed for this movie. Holding her breath for more than 7 minutes, beating Tom Cruise‘s record on the same.

Talking about the movie, the UFC commentator stated, “They did film a lot of it underwater cause they said Kate Winslet held her breath for 7 minutes.” As the conversation proceeded, they went on to compare the durations between Tom Cruise and Kate Winslet. And the results had Joe Rogan in awe.
Rogan read from an article, “7 minutes and 15 seconds. And (Tom)Cruise’s record was, for Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation was 6 minutes.” And this received a number of reactions from the fans as well, who were as amazed as Joe Rogan.
Fans were indeed impressed by Kate Winslet for performing such an incredible task:
“Didn’t even beat it, smashed it”
“Idk about y’all but I’m impressed.”
However, there were some fans who had their reservations about this:
“Questiob, why was she underwater if they are going to replace her with cgi?”
“I can’t lie I’m a bit skeptical but sh*t you never no”
And came in the Titanic references:
“Ironic… Since Leo was the one who had to hold his breath”

One fan broke down the idea of holding breath underwater:
“It’s all about slowing down your heart rate so your not using oxygen stored in your system”
One user found it impossible to imagine holding their breath for so long:
“Bro I can barely do 90 secs”
Tom Cruise got to pull up his socks, advised on fan:
“Tom is on the phone right now arranging to reclaim this 😂”
Kate Winslet being able to carry out such a monumental undertaking was indeed remarkable and deserves all the attention it’s getting. However, the actress felt she almost lost her life while doing it.
Kate Winslet thought she died

Holding your breath underwater isn’t child’s play. Let alone doing that for a couple of minutes. But as dedicated as Kate Winslet is to her profession, she took up the challenge and rose to the occasion. However, it was deadly, to say the least. And in an interview with Total Film, Kate Winslet revealed how she thought she almost died while performing the underwater scene for this ambitious James Cameron project.
She said, “I have the video of me surfacing saying, ‘Am I dead, have I died?’ And then going, ‘What was [my time]?’… Straight away I wanted to know my time. And I couldn’t believe it… The next thing I say is, ‘We need to radio set. I wanted Jim to know right away.”

Sometimes, the things that actors undertake as part of their jobs seem unbelievable. But it certainly pays off for good in the end.
