NBC host rips Eagles after loss to Giants as team hits ‘rock bottom’

The meltdowns in Philadelphia are spectacular.
NBC Sports Philadelphia host Michael Barkann threw a tantrum after the “pathetic” New York Giants walloped the Philadelphia Eagles, 27-10, in the teams’ regular-season finales Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
The Eagles lost five of their last six regular-season games and are limping into Monday night’s wild-card game against the Buccaneers in Tampa.
“If you thought last week was rock bottom, they have yet to hit rock bottom, as bad as this looks,” Barkann said as NBC showed the Eagles walking off the field. “You watched your Philadelphia Eagles today, losers 27-10, to the New York Giants, the pathetic New York Giants … They stunk like they have for five of the last six weeks. Befuddled, without passion, without intensity, without extra effort, without want-to. They’re just going through the motions.”

Everything is not sunny in Philadelphia as the once-Super Bowl favorites led by the once-MVP favorite instead look like they are no longer threats to return to the Super Bowl.
While three of those Eagles’ five losses in these last six weeks came against solid-to-great teams in the 49ers, Cowboys and Seahawks, Philadelphia fumbled away the division by losing at home to the Cardinals and on the road against the Giants, both of whom missed the playoffs.
The Eagles didn’t even show up for Sunday’s game, falling behind 24-0 at halftime to a Giants team they have dominated in recent memory.

Sunday’s loss left Barkann predicting a one-and-done for the Eagles in the playoffs despite Philadelphia already winning at Tampa in Week 3, 25-11.
“Guess what, this is where it ends for the Philadelphia Eagles in the regular season, a loss to the New York Giants, a loss to Tampa Bay next week it says right here,” Barkann said. “There’s nothing they’re going to get fixed from this week to next.”
The NBC host particularly torched the coaching staff and defensive play-caller Matt Patricia, singling him out as he walked into the Eagles’ locker room.

“Matt Patricia, who’s dropping a man with consecutive 10-sack seasons (Haason Reddick) back in coverage, and the same with Josh Sweat, who’s not covering the guy he’s supposed to cover when he is dropped back in coverage,” Barkann said. “They don’t know what they are doing. The coaching staff doesn’t, the players don’t and when you wind into that the fact that they have lost the desire to play hard…”
Co-host Barrett Brooks then took over to rip the team’s fight.
“That’s what’s most damning right there. This team is not fighting, they’re not going out there with the heart that it is to play football. This is disrespecting my sport, a sport that I played 12 years with,” Brooks said. “I have never walked off the field the way these guys are walking off the field right now. They don’t even look mad, they don’t even look pissed off, it’s like they’re just out there going through the motions. Come on, now. This doesn’t make any sense to me.”
