The NBA world already got a shock late last evening when Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving requested a trade from the franchise. Despite the Nets being in the top half of the Eastern Conference, no one thought that Irving would want out of Brooklyn ahead of the trade deadline. However, after Irving and the Nets were not able to come to an agreement for a contract extension, the eight-time All-Star reportedly requested a change in scenery. Though what caught the attention of fans was the contract extension Kyrie Irving has been looking for, which seemed outrageous to many.
It was clearly an unexpected move by Kyrie Irving, given how well the Nets were playing so far. The duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving had finally started clicking after months of turmoil and it seemed that Irving had put everything behind him.

Kyrie Irving has lost a lot of money in the past year, be it by refusing a contract extension from the Nets or from losing his sneaker deal with Nike. Irving’s bag has taken a major hit due to the controversies he was a part of.
Now, it is unsure what franchise would be willing to trade for him. Moreover, this new contract extension demand might put a few teams on their heels given how Irving’s off-court antics have been a problem recently as well.
