The Indian Premier League (IPL) will mark its 16th season, having become a prominent event in the cricket calendar since its inception in 2008. To celebrate this milestone, Star Sports, the broadcaster of the 2023 IPL, presented the “Incredible Premier League awards” to recognize the outstanding performers in the tournament’s history.
The awards were given for the best captain, batter, and bowler, as well as for the players with the greatest impact, best batting performance, and best bowling performance. The nominees for these categories included some remarkable players.

IPL 2023 – Rohit Sharma Named Incredible Captain
Rohit Sharma, who has led the Mumbai Indians to an unprecedented five IPL titles, was honoured with the Best Captain award, surpassing the legendary MS Dhoni from the Chennai Super Kings who has led the Yellow Army to four IPL titles.
Rohit Sharma talked about receiving the most number of votes for the award and was honoured for all the love and support the franchise has received over the years.
“Thank you for all your support and the vote. It means a lot to me and to the franchise. Fans are the backbone and pillars of this team without a shadow of a doubt.” “The way these fans have supported us throughout the years and through our ups and downs, it means a lot to us. Every time we walk out onto the pitch, we wear that Mumbai jersey with a lot of pride and to bring a lot of joy on the faces of these fans.”
IPL 2023 – Virat Kohli Bags The Incredible Batter In A Season
Virat Kohli’s exceptional display in IPL 2016 earned him the ‘Incredible Batting Performance in a Season’ award, surpassing the performance of his compatriot Chris Gayle for the same team in 2011.

Virat Kohli’s batting performance in the 2016 IPL was a remarkable spectacle in the sport. He not only led the Royal Challengers Bangalore to the finals of the tournament but also scored a staggering 973 runs, including four centuries, setting the record for the most runs in an IPL season.
IPL 2023 – Jasprit Bumrah Incredible Bowler In The History Of the Tournament
Jasprit Bumrah, the spearhead of the Mumbai Indians’ pace attack, was honoured with the award for Best Bowler, surpassing Kolkata Knight Riders’ star Sunil Narine. Bumrah is known for his exceptional skill in delivering toe-crushing yorkers in the death overs, which makes even easy chases for opponents seem like a challenging task.
Having started his IPL career under the guidance of Lasith Malinga, Bumrah has played a pivotal role in the Mumbai Indians’ success over the years and has established himself as one of the tournament’s biggest stars.
Other notable mentions from the same broadcast were Ab de Villiers, Andre Russell, and Sunil Narine who were awarded with the Incredible Batter, Incredible Impact Player, and Incredible Bowler in a Single Season.
