Casey Brown will be decorating his childhood home in Christmas lights, like he does every December.
Brown’s yard is decorated with every kind of tree: real, spiral, rope LED, color changing, cardboard, rainbow, striped and otherwise. Plus an array of animals, real and imagined, with a hippo, giant chipmunk, abominable snowman, Spider-Man, unicorn, reindeer and more. Spider-Man may not technically be an animal, but Brown has one, behind the white crystal tree with a rainbow strand of LED lights.
Brown joins countless others in Kootenai County decorating to the nines, with millions of bulbs and miles of strands.
The city of Rathdrum had its first round of judging Dec. 10 for “Deck the Homes,” so homes in the Majestic Park and Thayer Park neighborhoods are already dressed to impress.
The second round of judging will be Dec. 17, and Rathdrum residents are ready and waiting for spectators. Winners of Rathdrum’s best light displays in a number of categories will be announced Dec. 21.
To see the Rathdrum route of festive homes, the map is available at www.rathdrum.org/rec.
