Starlux Airlines And The Private Suite Partner For First Class Lounge Access In Los Angeles

According to a post on Twitter, Taiwanese carrier Starlux Airlines (JX) looks to wow passengers even further at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The post notes that the airline’s first class lounge for passengers at LAX will be Reserve PS.
Starlux only commenced operations in California in April but has high aspirations to expand its North American network to destinations like San Francisco and New York City. The carrier was founded in 2018 but took its first revenue flight in 2020 between Taipei and Macau. Starlux had hoped to launch operations in the United States much sooner. However, the spread of COVID-19 put the brakes on that idea.

Bucking the trend
With many new carriers now looking to capture the low-cost, no-frills market, Starlux is attempting the complete opposite. Airline CEO Glenn Chai, a former chairman at Eva Air (another outstanding Taiwanese Carrier), aims to deliver an executive experience.

The carrier’s current Airbus A350 is deployed on the Taipei – LAX service, currently with two in the fleet. 18 more are on order and will facilitate the carrier’s ambitions across the Pacific. Already operating a range of Asian services, the carrier also recently teamed up with Alaska Airlines. This partnership will soon enable travelers to book one through ticket between Alaska’s vast American network onto Starlux’s route to Taipei.

The Reserve PS Experience
Reserve PS (Private Suite) prides itself on the most luxurious way to travel through Los Angeles International Airport. Facilitating the service via a VIP terminal on the other side of the hustle and bustle that most of us are accustomed to at LAX. The service is the ‘back door’ to the airport, offering door-to-door service for both commercial and private flight operations. As explained by One Mile At A Time:
”In Los Angeles, Starlux first class passengers will be able to use PS, the private suite that offers chauffeur service to & from the plane, allowing you to skip the terminal altogether; if you’re traveling alone you’ll have access to The Salon (a shared space), while if you’re traveling with someone, you’ll have access to The Suite (a private space).
”While exact details of food & drinks in first class aren’t known, dine on demand will be offered, and there will be caviar”
No penny pinching here.
Those expecting the experience to be as cheap as a flight on Spirit will be quickly disappointed. A search on the carrier’s website for a trip from Los Angeles to Taipei for a week in August will set a first class passenger back over $19,000.

However, as expected for the eye-watering sum, the ticket includes 3 x 32kgs (70lbs) of checked luggage and up to 14kgs (30lbs) for carry-on.
