Man Filming His Nana on Their Vacation Delights Viewers: ‘What A Vibe’

An uplifting video of a young man and his grandmother going on a cruise together is delighting viewers on TikTok, with one commenting: “What a vibe, absolutely love her.”
The clip has been watched more than 1.1 million times in just four days and is the first post on an account called @cosmicnana1936. The bio reads simply: “Best nan in the world.”
The viral video starts with the pair standing in the hallway of a house surrounded by luggage. The on-screen text reads: “4:26 am POV: You get invited to go on a cruise with your nan.”
The man can be heard asking: “Where we going, nana?” She replies excitedly: “We’re going on a cruise! Wooo!”
The footage then turns into a montage of their trip, beginning with a flight from Manchester airport in the U.K. On the cruise liner, there are scenes of the pair having luxurious dinners, drinking wine, relaxing in the pool—and even the grandma dancing with her walking stick in the air, to the cheers of other passengers.
Cruise vacations have long been associated with older generations, in part thanks to the fixed itineraries and scheduled mealtimes.
However, a 2021 study by TripAdvisor and Accenture reported that high-income millennials were becoming more interested in cruises. Among those who said they were planning a cruise for their next vacation, 58 percent were millennials or younger.
The average age of a cruise passenger is now under 48, according to a 2022 report from the Cruise Lines International Association. People between the age of 20 and 39 make up 20 percent of passengers.
In the @cosmicnana1936 footage on TikTok, numerous young passengers can be seen by the pool on the ship.
The introduction of superfast wi-fi on cruise ships has been a big pull for younger generations as the pandemic increased the number of young people who want to work remotely and who might want to take long “working holidays.”
Similarly, it’s not all shuffleboard and show tunes aboard the average cruise ship any more. Bars, entertainment offerings and fitness equipment are now geared to a younger, more active clientele.
TikTok commenters were delighted by the nana-grandson duo enjoying their trip. Emma Johnson wrote: “I love this! Wish I could have done this with my grandma. Enjoy every minute with her.”
User Lily commented: “Why am I crying? This is a really wholesome video.” Others praised the grandmother for being “so joyful and full of life.” One wrote: “She’s our Nana now.”
Newsweek has reached out to the original poster for comment.
