On Monday, March 4, Alaska Airlines announced that it was partnering with the online travel agency Expedia. The two partners created Alaska Vacations, which is a new portal to help travelers plan a unique vacation to many destinations. The partnership also allows Alaska Mileage Plan members to utilize the new portal and earn miles while doing so.

By partnering with Expedia Group, Alaska Airlines can offer its reward members and travelers a unique experience when booking entire vacations. The partnership allows travelers to book the entirety of their vacation, including flights, hotels, car rentals, and other vacations, through the new portal called Alaska Vacations.

The Managing Director of Business Development and Products at Alaska Airlines, Courtney Lansing, spoke about the partnership. She stated,
“Our partnership with Expedia gives guests a convenient way to book their next trip and experience an award-winning loyalty program on the premier airline of the West Coast. Alaska Vacations allows you to explore new destinations or book last-minute deals while earning miles toward your next dream vacation. By bundling your flight, hotel, and activities through Alaska Vacations you’re also saving money, which is a win all-around.”
The travel portal integrates flights and car rentals with access to rental properties or hotels. Many of these hotels offer free cancelation, which gives travelers increased flexibility. The portal also offers 24/7 online support with the help of Expedia Group.
It also offers additional ways to earn miles for Alaska Mileage Plan members. Every vacation package that is booked through Alaska Vacations will earn these mileage plan members additional miles and rewards – if the vacation package includes a flight, the mileage plan members will earn their normal flight miles on top of the miles earned from vacation packages. The airline also offers 3 miles per dollar spent on Alaska Vacations when the booking is purchased with an Alaska Airlines Visa card.
Other mileage plan benefits
On top of the new benefits offered by the Alaska Vacations travel packaging portal, Alaska Airlines offers several other benefits for its members. Currently, the airline offers more miles on average than other airlines. It provides other perks for mileage plan members and even has some available for non-members that are available for purchase.

Any passenger with an Alaska Airlines Visa credit card has an annual option to purchase a Companion Fare. Eligible credit card holders have the ability to book an additional ticket on any flight for just $99 plus taxes and fees. This can amount to as low as $122 in total – there are several restrictions, but if passengers have spent the required amount on their Alaska Airlines Visa card, the passenger gets sent a discount code to utilize their Companion Fare.
Alaska Airlines also offers access to several lounges. The airline is an oneworld alliance member, so it has access to partner lounges across the country. It also has several lounges of its own, particularly on the West Coast. Dedicated membership programs such as Lounge+ give members access to lounges throughout the world. Basic lounge passes can be purchased for as low as $30.
