Luke Littler was one of the few people inside Alexandra Palace—the rowdy, beer-soaked, spiritual home of British darts—who wasn’t old enough on Tuesday night to buy himself a drink.
And yet, he was the toast of the evening. That’s because Littler, the 16-year-old prodigy lighting up the brightest stage in this game of darkened pubs, had just punched his ticket to the final of the darts world championship. With a commanding performance in front of more than 3,000 fans, Littler swept aside a fellow Englishman and confirmed his spot as the new year’s unlikely Cinderella of British sports.
