The official trailer for Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1 teased what will likely be the big (and double) finale of the long-running franchise starring Tom Cruiseending that will bring together practically all the best-known faces of the saga: but Will there also be room for Jeremy Renner?.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe sta played the role of theAgent William Brandt in the fourth chapter of the saga, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol by Brad Birda very important part for his career that Jeremy Renner obtained after receiving the double consecutive Oscar nomination, first as best actor for The Hurt Locker by Kathryn Bigelow in 2010 and then for Best Supporting Actor for The Town by Ben Affleck in 2011. Even Paramount at one point had considered making Jeremy Renner the protagonist of a new saga of Mission: Impossiblea project which however – obviously – foundered due to the apparently imperishable fame of Tom Cruise (who still guarantees big successes at the box office with Top Gun Maverick), which relegated William Brand again to the role of follower in the subsequent Mission Impossible Rogue Nation by Christopher McQuarrie.
However, according to a new theory, William Brandt could come back in Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning: the hypothesis arises from the trailer of the first part of the double-film, more specifically from the scene that puts Ethan Hunt face to face with Eugene Kittridge (Henry Czerny) for the first time since the events of the original film by Mission: Impossible directed by Brian DePalma. Details about the plot of the two films are absolutely secret, but judging by Kittridge’s words it would seem that the world of Mission: Impossible is about to implode in a spy war: assuming Ethan Hunt refuses Kittridge’s invitation to work with him, the protagonist will have to respond by forming his own team and in addition to the usual allies, such as Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) and Luther Stickell ( Ving Rhames), he might also want to turn to William Brandt.
Of course, the return of Jeremy Renner could also work the other way, i.e. with William Brandt ally of Kittridge and opponent of Ethan Hunt. A hypothesis, this provided by the theory, which would offer even greater depth to the character, which would thus replace the role of the deadly villain played by Henry Cavill in the acclaimed Mission Impossible Fallout.
At the moment it should be noted that there is no official information about a possible return of Jeremy Renner in the saga of Mission: Impossible, but recent blockbusters have accustomed the public to anything: what do you think? Tell us in the comments.
