Amidst the ongoing debate over the NCAA women’s basketball championship controversy, many details have emerged since. The match between LSU Tigers and Iowa Hawkeyes grew intriguing when two of the players got into a tiff. LSU’s Angel Reese garnered a lot of attention when she made a ‘you can’t see me’ gesture towards Iowa’s Caitlin Clark.

However, a new branch of discourse shot up when supporters of Reese noticed a similarity between the basketball champ and another athlete. In an interview with the I am athlete podcast, the basketball champion revealed how the team received an apology later, after public backlash. However, she refused to accept the apology and even disclosed that the first lady was scheduled to meet them at their locker rooms before they denied. Amidst backlash over the invitation, Iowa Hawkeyes‘ coach Lisa Bluder also took her team out of the White House invite.
Meanwhile, fans stormed in, by comparing Reese’s bold ways to that of track and field star Sha’Carri Richardson. After watching her deny the first lady’s apologies, many were concerned for the basketball star’s future. Richardson didn’t make it to the final Olympics team since she tested positive for THC, thus facing backlash. And now, fans are worried that Angel Reese would be treated “the same way y’all did Sha’Carri Richardson!”
