Oprah Daily recently praised several hotels nationwide, including a Connecticut getaway where travelers can sleep in a helicopter hangar, tree house, and lighthouse.
The first-ever Oprah Daily Hotel O-Wards, featured in the publication’s inaugural “Trips That Transform” travel issue, named 68 favorite escapes in and near North America for 2024 and included four New England stays: Miraval Berkshires in Lenox; Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge; Twin Farms in Barnard, Vermont; and Winvian in Morris, Conn.
“These properties touch on every aspect of self-care: physical, emotional, spiritual, social, even sensual,” Oprah Daily wrote.

At Winvian, travelers can sleep in one of 18 luxury themed cottages on 113 acres in Connecticut’s Lichfield Hills. The cottages were designed by 15 architects. Guests can also book a suite inside the property’s 1775 historic family home.

The themed luxury cottages appeal to many different tastes. The cottages are called: Artist, Beaver Lodge, Camping, Charter Oak, Connecticut Yankee, Golf, Greenhouse, Helicopter, Industry, Library, Log Cabin, Maritime, Music, Secret Society, Stable, Stone, Treehouse, and Woodlands.
Each cottage features at least one fireplace and a private outdoor area.

The escape is bordered by woods and lakes, allowing for plenty of adventurous activities such as hiking, biking, boating, birding, or tubing on nearby Farmington River.

Diners can sit in a private dining room, take meals in their room, or relax in the newly renovated Restaurant at Winvian with its arched beamed ceilings. Guests can also eat at Maggie’s Tavern, which has a fireplace and seasonal stone terrace.
