Klutch Sports Group, which represents several high-profile players in the NBA and NFL, is expanding into Major League Baseball.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, Klutch Sports has acquired Rep 1 Sports, which counts Boston Red Sox All-Star third baseman Rafael Devers and Milwaukee Brewers All-Star closer Devin Williams among its clients.
Klutch Sports is run by Rich Paul, who is the longtime friend and business partner of Los Angeles Lakers star and NBA legend LeBron James.
James is Klutch Sports’ most famous client, but he is joined by several other NBA superstars as well, including Anthony Davis of the Lakers, Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks, Tyrese Maxey of the Philadelphia 76ers, Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors and De’Aaron Fox of the Sacramento Kings, among others.
In the NFL, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is Klutch Sports’ main client after finishing second in the NFL MVP voting and reaching the Super Bowl last season.
Other NFL players under the Klutch banner include Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith, Tennessee Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, Cleveland Browns pass-rusher Myles Garrett, San Francisco 49ers pass-rusher Chase Young, Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson.
While Rep 1 isn’t at the level of Scott Boras or Joel Wolfe in the world of baseball, it already has a solid client base.
Devers is the headliner, as the two-time All-Star, two-time Silver Slugger Award winner and one-time World Series champion is among the best hitters in baseball.
After signing a 10-year, $313.5 million contract earlier this year to remain with the Red Sox, the 27-year-old Devers hit .271 with 33 home runs and 100 RBI in 2023.
Williams, who is a two-time National League Reliever of the Year, went 8-3 with a career-high 36 saves, plus a 1.53 ERA last season.
