Oscar De La Hoya’s Girlfriend Exposes His Abs Secret: Not Implants

Oscar De La Hoya is one of the most renowned success stories of boxing. From Super Featherweight to Middleweight, “The Golden Boy” ruled the ring. Reportedly he resurrected the sinking glory of a sport desperately looking for an icon at a time when the stars of its biggest name Mike Tyson began fading. Post-retirement, he has become a successful boxing promoter with his Golden Boy Promotions.
However, on a personal front, the former champion has had a whirlwind journey. Initially, in a relationship with former Miss USA Shanna Moakler for three years, De La Hoya finally found marital bliss with Puerto Rican singer Millie Corretjer in 2001. But after three kids and fifteen years, the two went separate ways in 2016. “The Golden Boy” found another shoulder to lean on in 2001 when he met sports reporter Holly Sonders.

While it’s been fourteen years since he hung the glove, Oscar De La Hoya continues to grab headlines for his promotional activities. However, a piece of rather unexpected news brought his name to the forefront. As much as it brought wild speculations from fans, his girlfriend did the honors in blowing the lid off the puzzle.
De La Hoya’s shadow boxing video, in which he appeared incredibly shredded, received a lot of attention recently. However, most found it hard to believe. While a few thought that he had “ab implant” surgery. Whereas others hypothesized that it is “ab etching.” The procedure involves fat removal via liposuction from the abdominal region during surgery. That way, it sculpts the body and highlights the abdominal muscles.

But now it seems most of the rife speculation would be put to rest as details of a chat the former champion had with his girlfriend came out.

Holly Sonders using the Instagram handle, commented, “Somehow… in a bizarre turn of events… you are wearing less clothing than I am on IG.”
Response from the former champion soon followed, “@hollysonders next thing you know, I’ll be wearing only a thong.”
But it was Sonders’ response that stole the show, “And to set the record straight…he got ab etching. No implants. These are his abs, just defined by a great surgeon!”

Whether it was made in jest or seriously, the veracity of the comments made by Holly Sonders’ cannot be ascertained though. Hence, discussions on De La Hoya’s abs could be available for some time.
The Barcelona Olympics Gold medalist began his professional journey by the end of 1992. Winning thirty-nine fights out of forty-five, De La Hoya faced some of the era’s biggest names.
Retiring in 2008, in June 2021, there were reports of “The Golden Boy” staging a return and facing former UFC mixed martial artist Vitor Belfort. However, the fight never happened, as the former reported catching Covid-19.
