In an unexpected turn of events, Pakistani fast bowler Wahab Riaz will compete in the eighth Pakistan Super League while also assuming a new position as Punjab’s temporary sports minister, which falls within the purview of the province’s caretaker administration.
In international cricket, Wahab Riaz is well-known due to his accomplishments for Pakistan throughout the years. For many years, he was an important member of Pakistan’s team and participated in a number of World Cup campaigns. The hitters have a lot of difficulty because of his ability to bowl quickly. But based on the fact that Wahab hasn’t competed for the national team since November 2020, it appears that he has recently lost favour.

Wahab Riaz Decides To Take Time Off First-class Cricket
Baligh Ur Rehman, the governor of Punjab, recently administered the oath of office to the newly elected state cabinet at the Governor House in Lahore. Due to his duties related to the current Bangladesh Premier League, the left-arm pacer was not present.
Eight of the eleven members, including Bilal Afzal, SM Tanveer, Dr. Javed Akram, Ibrahim Murad, Dr. Jamal Nasir, Mansoor Qadir, Syed Azfar Ali Nasir, and Amir Mir, had to take the oath in person since Wahab Riaz, Tamkinat Karim, and Naseem Sadiq did not attend the event.

“After reviewing my past couple of years’ performances in red-ball cricket and the upcoming limited-overs cricket, I have decided to take time off from first-class cricket.
During this period, I would like to focus on 50-over and 20-over cricket and continue to access my fitness for the longer version of the game. At a stage I feel I cannot only return but also perform with the red ball, I would make myself available,” said Wahab during an interview as reported by NDTV.
In the shorter game forms, Wahab was one of Pakistan’s most reliable performers. The 37-year-old has 237 wickets to his name in 156 international matches for Pakistan, and he hasn’t ruled out playing again for his country just yet. Wahab, who has 12 wickets in six games at an economy of 6.53, has been the best bowler in the current BPL.
