Tom Cruise in great shape and fresh from the hugely successful tour for the sequel to the film Top Gun: Maverick celebrates its first 60 years
Tom Cruisethe actor who fascinates fans of all ages with his action and suspense films, fresh from the great success achieved at the Cannes Film Festival 2022 with Top Gun: Maverick (repaid by a special tribute to his career) celebrates 60 years on July 3rd. And like it or not, he maintains a timeless appeal (did he make a pact with the devil?). It seems only three years and no more than three decades have passed between the first and second chapter of the film that drove an entire generation crazy.
A “mission impossible” for everyone but certainly not for the face of incredible Hollywood adventures and great auteur films, from Eyes Wide Shut by Stanley Kubrick a Minority Report by Steven Spielberg. Tom Cruise embodies the vitality of a generation of boomers who have moved the bar of age: that’s why his 60 years it looks like 40.
Two parties: in the US and in the UK
And that’s why the star is organizing two parties, one in the United States and one in Great Britain. In London to be exact, where he spent the entire lockdown period. And, of course, he’s hoping for a very special guest of honour: Prince William.
The guest list will be the best the country has to offer in terms of celebs: «There will certainly be David Beckham, James Corden, his Mission: Impossible co-star, Simon Pegg», says the Mail.

Tom Cruise in Top Gun Maverick
The American actor is driving everyone crazy with Top Gun – Maverick, the sequel to the film that made his celebrity take off at the age of 24, in 1986 (and the applications to join the US Air Force grew by 500%). They had been asking him for years to repeat the success of the first Top Gun but Tom Cruise, who is also a producer, has never had anything that didn’t convince him, much less chapter 2 of such an iconic and high risk of disappointment title. But then something changed.
Top Gun Maverick: the plot
It was the director Joseph Kosinski who proposed him the right plot: a mixture of adrenaline and feelings, irony and fragility to make that unbeatable driver human, nicknamed Maverick – in English, nonconformist – because he always does his own thing. For this reason, we discover in the film, he never made a career but, being the most skilled of all, he is called up among the Top Guns to train young people destined to bomb an enemy plant. Among them is Bradley known as “Rooster” (Miles Teller), son of his friend and flight mate who had lost his life in an exercise (“My father believed in you, I won’t make the same mistake”). He finds his old flame (Jennifer Connelly), which reveals how clumsy he is in love and even on a sailing boat.
Follow sentimental and aerial acrobatics that Cruise shot in real F-18 training sessions: «I wanted everything to be real for you to fly with us» he promised the fans. And the promise has been kept.
