In an almost ten minute video, Tom Cruise revealed that he is “so excited to share what we have been working on”. And that includes putting himself on the line again for the sake of cinematography.
Paramount Pictures just revealed that the upcoming film will be called ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning’ and will be divided into two parts. One of them will show “the greatest stunt in the history of cinema”.
Madness on wheels and in the sky
“This is by far the most dangerous thing we have ever attempted.”Cruise says at the beginning of the behind-the-scenes clip, before explaining that they’ve been preparing for this for years. The scene includes riding off a cliff on a motorcycle and transforming into a base jump.
The training took place on specially designed motocross tracks, so Tom Cruise could jump 21-24m in the air and practice his stance and landing. One of the ramps was built specifically for the film in the UK, while the other was built in Norway.
Of course, while Cruise’s stunts were vital to the film, so was how audiences perceived them. Thus, the team worked tirelessly to deliver the best footage of what the actor was up to.
To perfect the trick, Cruise made over 500 parachute jumps and 13,000 jumps with motocross bike. They filmed the scene on a cliff in Norway in 2020. Dead Reckoning will bring back Tom Cruise as Impossible Missions Force (IMF) special agent Ethan Hunt. He will star alongside Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames, Vanessa Kirby, Henry Czerny and Frederick Schmidt, who will reprise their roles.
