For an hour and a half, the British indie rock band showed just how versatile they are and took the public through twenty years of music in the parking lot of LuxExpo in Luxembourg on Tuesday evening.
Tickets for the concert in Kirchberg sold out, with 15,000 tickets sold. This was the launch of Atelier’s open-air concert in the parking lot in front of LuxExpo. After Lizzo’s concert was cancelled.
The atmosphere at the site was cool and a few drops of rain cooled the fans a bit.
Through Nearly 20 Years of Indie Rock
Arctic Monkeys was formed in 2002, the debut album titled “Whatever People Say I Am, That Is What I Am Not” was released in 2006. Fans had to wait until the end to hear the single “I Bet You Look Good On”. The Dancefloor” from this album.

The group played their debut single as well as songs from their latest album, 2022’s “The Car”. “I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am” or “There’d Better Be a Mirrorball” show that Arctic Monkeys’ musical style has evolved a bit over the years, more towards pop-rock.
How to explain this success?
English fans are very different. Many of them are from the early days, but there were also many young faces who had recently discovered the band. Many young people mingled with the thousands of fans who came to Kirchberg.
The recipe for success for the Sheffield Quartet built around Alex Turner is a combination of brilliant instrumental solos and rhythm playing, as well as lyrical lessons. One of the Arctic Monkeys’ best-known songs, “Do I Want to Know”, is just one example of the musical diversity.
505, Do I Want to Know?, Fluorescent Adolescent, Arabella, Do Me a Favor,… For an hour and a half, Arctic Monkeys turned Kirchberg into a concert hall to the delight of the fans.

The Arctic Monkeys give several outdoor concerts in the summer, with Luxembourg being a stop.
There are several other outdoor concerts scheduled in Kirchberg over the next few days, such as Paul Kalbrenner’s Open Air this Friday, July 7th. Robbie Williams will conclude with two concerts on Monday 10 July and Tuesday 11 July.
