Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC) introduced on Wednesday a travel-focused credit card that targets similar customers to JPMorgan Chase’s (JPM) Sapphire Preferred card. The new card underscores how lucrative upscale clients are for credit card issuers and how intense the competition is to attract them.
Called Autograph Journey, the $95-per-year card offers accelerated rewards on travel categories — 5x points on hotels, 4x points on airlines, 3x points on other travel and dining, and 1x points on other purchases, the bank said. Cardholders also get a $50 annual statement credit for airfare purchases and travel protection benefits.
