The only person to free solo the El Capitan till now, Alex Honnold has been instrumental in promoting the sport of rock climbing. While Honnold has been quite engaging about voicing the good, bad, and evil of rock climbing, he also set up his own podcast, Climbing Gold. However, he is not the only one who’s been shifting the boundaries of the sport through media representation.
As per Honnold’s recent Twitter update, he shared the poster of the new HBO Max Series, The Climb. The show is produced by two notable figures, Jason Momoa and Chris Sharma, and was recently released on the broadcasting platform this month. In a recent Twitter post, the 37-year-old athlete was amazed by the new series The Climb hosted by his co-athletes. He shared the official banner of the series featuring the producers, Sharma and the Aquaman star. Additionally, the post came with an insightful caption that highlighted the main idea of the venture.
Honnold wrote in his caption, “Chris Sharma & Meagan Martin did a great job of hosting & helping to share the spirit of climbing. The free solo climber also mentioned that he checked out the initial episodes of the series with his wife, Sanni McCandless and surprisingly, they both had a great time watching the show. Jared Leto once accompanied by Alex Honnold almost died
According to an Instagram post shared by Leto, he claimed to have experienced a near-fatal encounter at the Red Rock in Nevada. Reportedly, Leto was climbing the rock along with Honnold when he observed a glitch. Adding a long caption to the post, he wrote, “Not to sound dramatic, but this is the day I nearly died. Took a pretty good fall climbing with @alexhonnold at Red Rock. Looked up and within seconds the rope was being cut by the rock while I dangled some 600 ft in the air.”

However, don’t mistake the Joker star to be a rookie, since he often takes trips to Yosemite National Park as well as the Red Rock. It was just one of those ‘survival of the fittest’ days. Fortunately, he clinched his way and saved the day. Further, he added with a tinge of sentiment, “I remember looking down at the ground below. It was a strange moment – less fear, more matter-of-fact, and slightly melancholy.”

While climbing comes with its own set of challenges, practicing the sport necessitates a certain level of prowess and flair. Failing which, it gets ugly. Let us know if you are already hooked on the series.
