Emhoff to address antisemitism, gender equity in Davos

Second gentleman Doug Emhoff is set to travel Wednesday to Davos, Switzerland, focused on addressing antisemitism and gender equity.
Emhoff will be in Davos from through Saturday to attend the World Economic Forum annual meeting. While there, he will highlight the Biden-Harris administration’s “commitment to countering the global rise of Antisemitism, Islamophobia, and hate of all kinds,” communications director Liza Acevedo said in a statement on Tuesday.
And, he will “participate in events focused on promoting gender equity and protecting women’s rights,” she said. Additionally, he will meet with foreign government officials from and leaders from the private sector while in Davos.
“This trip builds on the Second Gentleman’s leadership on combating hate, fostering unity and collaboration, and tackling gender inequality,” Acevedo said.
The World Economic Forum kicked off on Tuesday, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken and national security adviser Jake Sullivan are in attendance. Blinken met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier on Tuesday.
Emhoff has been a leading voice out of the White House addressing antisemitism. In December, he chastised a group of university presidents for what he called an “unacceptable” lack of moral clarity after their testimony in Congress.
