Caitlin Clark roasts Michael Che on ‘SNL’ ahead of 2024 WNBA Draft

Caitlin Clark is already having her New York moment.
Before the Indiana Fever select her as the No. 1 pick in Monday’s 2024 WNBA Draft in Brooklyn, the former Iowa superstar and holder of the most points as any men’s or women’s NCAA Division I player made a guest appearance on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend during the “Weekend Update” segment with Colin Jost and Michael Che.
Clark, 22, savagely roasted Che, 40, during the roughly five-minute segment after he cracked a joke about her.
“The University of Iowa announced that basketball star Caitlin Clark will have her jersey retired and replaced with an apron,” Che said.
Clark replied: “You make a lot of jokes about women’s sports. Don’t you, Michael?”

Jost proceeded to show a few clips of Che’s past jokes, poking fun at women’s sports bars, record-breaking viewership and the WNBA.
“Colin with the receipts. Thanks, man,” Clark said.
The segment continued with Che being forced to read three jokes about him written by Clark.
The first included the Indiana Fever, who hold the first pick of the 2024 WNBA draft and is expected to pick Clark.

“The Indiana Fever have the first pick in this Monday’s draft,” Che read. “A reminder that the Indiana Fever is a WNBA team and not what Michael Che gave to dozens of women at Purdue University.”
With the odds high in that favor, the Fever have seen a “spike” in ticket sales interest as they have been pre-selling single-game tickets.
The league has also leaned into Clark’s star power, giving Indiana 36 of its 40 games on the WNBA’s national broadcast and streaming partners: eight games across ABC, ESPN and ESPN2, eight matchups on ION and two on CBS.
To conclude her segment, Clark gave Che a personally signed pink apron and gave a quick speech about the league and her excitement for this next step.

“Thanks, I’m sure it will be a big first step for me. But, it’s just one step for the WNBA thanks to all the great players like Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie, Cynthia Cooper, the great Dawn Staley, and my basketball hero Maya Moore. These are the women that kicked down the door so I could walk inside. So, I want to thank them tonight for laying the foundation.”
The WNBA Draft is set to begin on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
