Think Before You Cancel Southwest Airlines

Regarding your editorial “Pete Buttigieg, Air Traffic Controller” (Dec. 29): We had two flights canceled and drove 820 miles to get home. But we were alerted many times by Southwest Airlines, days before we traveled, about weather delays. The storm was national news. We still decided to travel.
Southwest employees at the Austin, Texas, airport were wonderful. One who was leaving her shift after 14 hours stopped to help us. We still love Southwest—flexible changes, no change fees, no bag fees, no upcharge for two extra inches and so forth. The airline will be better after this, and I hope it offers everyone the same comps in vouchers or points. We want Southwest to stay in business.
