Global Compassion leaders to travel to Ukraine

After helping Ukrainian families in Midland and sending money to help rebuild destroyed homes, Global Compassion wants to see in person where that money is going.
Global Compassion co-founders Indira and Ed Oskvarek as well as their friend and donor, Steve Kin, will leave on Sept. 7 to meet with volunteers and build more contacts in Ukraine. They will meet Ukrainian and Polish home rebuilding volunteers in the war-ravaged country.
The work has been ongoing since March 2023 and the organization receives periodic updates, and so far about $50,000 has been raised to support the effort, Indira Oskvarek said. Around $40,000 of that has supported local Ukrainian families in the Midland area. Donations can be sent online through https://bit.ly/47RAiEV.
They are hoping to raise another $25,000 by Sept. 5 to give additional help to volunteers during their visit, and donations sent afterwards will still go towards relief efforts, Oskvarek said. The three are covering their own travel costs, and 98% of donations will go directly to the cause.
