Eyeing Combat Sports Return, Conor McGregor Drops 4 Word Message for Turki Alalsikh After Dana White Enters Boxing

Conor McGregor is planning something big. And it may not necessarily have anything to do with the world of mixed martial arts. The entire fighting community has been eyeing the return of the former UFC double champion. Well, he was set to return back in UFC 303, but an unfortunate injury forced him out of the conversation. And not too long ago, he was rumored to take on Logan Paul in a boxing match in India. While his epic comeback is hanging by a thread, hope still exists. That’s where Sheikh Turki Alalshikh comes in.
The Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Turki Alalshikh, has raised the bar for combat sports. We can say that he was the reason behind the success of Riyadh Season. And now, Dana White and Sheikh Turki Alalshikh joined hands to form TKO Boxing, marking the TKO Group’s entry into the realm of squared rings. With things turning ever so quickly, and for the better, ‘Mystic Mac’ couldn’t stand back from praising Sheikh Turki Alalshikh. No doubt, McGregor seemed to be craving some action.
If you remember correctly, earlier in November 2024, McGregor claimed that Sheikh Turki Alalshikh shook the world of combat sports by mending rivalries and pushing business for the industry. He claimed, “We are all in debt to that man and I have a very good personal relationship with him.” And there was some kind of announcement coming up from the UFC star’s side. But this time, he hinted at his return with just 4 words and an IG Story that showed McGregor shaking His Excellency’s hand. In the caption, ‘The Notorious’ wrote, “THE MAN! My friend [Turki Alalshikh].”

Conor McGregor knew pretty well how influential the Chairman of GEA, Saudi Arabia, actually was. On top of that, His Excellency has a close relationship with the UFC head honcho. If Sheikh Turki Alalshikh asked White, he simply could not deny giving McGregor a chance. And that’s why ‘The Notorious’ asked his friend for help.

It’s an incident from the time when Michael Chandler, who was supposed to fight McGregor but the bout fell apart, got a chance to step into the Octagon against Charles Oliveira. Undoubtedly, ‘Iron’ wasted no time and took up the fight. But McGregor was left without an opponent. With a broken heart and a desperate mind, the Irish fighter took to social media and shared a rant. He claimed that he got tested by the Drug Free Sport Agency and was the most tested athlete on the roster.
McGregor further quoted, “I believe I’ve been tested maybe 13 times—the same number as the seconds it took me to finish Jose Aldo. Thirteen times. And you know, actually, funny enough, Jose Aldo was number two in testing. I think he’s been tested six times. So, I’ve been tested more than twice as much as all these other athletes, yet I struggle to get a date.”

Well, the Irishman simply hoped that the Chairman of Saudi Arabian GEA would help him out of the rut. McGregor claimed, “You know, I’ve talked to Sheik Turki and said, ‘Sheik Turki, can you assist me here?’” Nevertheless, White was adamant in his take and pushed McGregor’s return to the later part of 2025. But let’s be honest here. No one actually knows when McGregor would return to fight. But one thing is certain. Watching ‘The Notorious’ step into the arena would be nothing short of phenomenal. It doesn’t matter if it’s boxing, MMA, or even bare-knuckle.
