Our area remains in a risk level 1 and 2 (out of 5) for severe weather on Sunday. A strong cold front will move through our area in the afternoon/evening. Morning clouds and rain coverage will dictate how strong the activity will be. The Storm Prediction Center rates the chances of storms on a five-point scale with five being the highest threat. Live 5 First Alert Meteorologist Chris Holtzman says most of the state, including inland areas of the Lowcountry, are in the second-lowest threat, while coastal portions of the Lowcountry are under the lowest threat Sunday.
Overcast skies and mild low temperatures, from the upper 50s to low 60s, will prevail through early Sunday morning. By daybreak, the cold front that has produced storms across parts of the southeast will enter South Carolina, bringing the risk of strong wind gusts, downpours and a couple of tornadoes over the course of the morning and afternoon, First Alert Meteorologist Dorien Minor says.
