NBA superstar Stephen Curry led the Golden State Warriors to their fourth title in eight years last season. Even though few considered the Warriors as contenders, they clinched the ring. So they were raring to go this season to defend their title. But things went downhill after the violent altercation between Draymond Green and Jordan Poole. While it was first believed to be a scuffle during practice, the leaked footage suggested otherwise. With the contracts of both Green and Poole still under negotiation, there were huge doubts.

Poole has shown a great deal of improvement last season earning the spot as the third Splash Brother with Curry and Klay Thompson. Fans loved Poole’s displays on the court. He has one of the best handles in the league and can hit deep threes like Curry. However, he still has to work on his shooting efficiency. But the Dubs fans believe he could be the heir to Curry as he is still very young.

“Warriors Are Ruining the League”: Stephen Curry’s Golden State Taking a $483 Million Decision Leaves NBA World in Shambles
So the altercation cast doubts about his future with the Warriors. However, things have now cooled down a bit and Poole has reportedly signed a four-year, $123 million contract with the Golden State.
Green’s comments about the contract extension of Stephen Curry in 2012
When Stephen Curry came into the league, he showed flashes of greatness. However, he struggled with his ankle injuries. So there were doubts about his ability to stay fit and continue his development. In 2012, he signed a four-year, $44 million extension with the Warriors. This has turned out to be one of the best deals ever from the perspective of the organization. Because just two years later Curry went on to win the MVP award for two straight years in 2015 and 2016. And then led them to multiple championships.
A few months back, Green and Curry talked about that deal on “The Draymond Green Show.”

“A year later it was the worst deal in pro sports history. One year later. The absolute worst deal in professional sports — on your behalf. On the Warriors’ behalf, the best deal,” Green added.

Now, everyone knows Curry is one of the best players in the league. He signed a five-year, $201 million contract in 2017. Then he signed a four-year, $215 million contract extension last season. By this, he has become the only person in the history of the NBA to sign two straight $200 million deals.

While Poole’s contract looks sorted, there are no reports about Green’s contract extension so far. It will be interesting to see how much the Warriors are willing to give up to secure his extension.
