Rogan is associated with the UFC for over 2 decades now. Hence, he certainly knows what he is talking about when he makes such strong claims.
Rogan gives a Conor McGregor reference to show MMA’s superiority
During the latest episode of the JRE, Joe Rogan revisited the iconic 13 seconds knockout by Conor McGregor against Jose Aldo back in 2015. The UFC commentator talked about how, during training, McGregor really replicated the maneuver he used to knock Aldo out in the Octagon. And using it as support, Rogan claimed that MMA was the greatest sport out there.
Joe Rogan further stated how MMA is misunderstood by many and how it is the ultimate sport, “People don’t understand what it is, because they look at it from the outside (saying) ‘it’s violence and it’s horrible’. It’s (MMA) high-level problem-solving with dire physical consequences.”
The UFC commentator further added, “And it’s the craziest game you can play. The wildest game you can play. You can play football. Football is amazing, right? But there’s a lot of people helping you, there’s a ball, there’s a timeout. There is none of that in this. This is the wildest game a person can play.”
Adding to that, the guest, Mark Boal, stated how football is a game MMA can be categorized as a sport. Joe Rogan described, “It’s combat sports. Combat sports are… they’re what all sports aspire to.” and further explained what is the key difference between combat sports and other sports.
Joe Rogan describes what separates combat sports from any other sport
Rogan presented a hypothetical scenario to help illustrate his rationale for further supporting his stance. He said, “If someone wins a basketball game, they can always say, ‘Yeah, well, I could’ve kicked your a**. You might have beat me at basketball, but I can kick your a**. Nobody gets their a** kicked (in MMA) and goes, ‘Yeah, well, I’ll f**k you up at basketball.’ Because no one cares… No one cares. You just got f****d up.”

He further added, “This is not like a bullying thing, this is not someone’s bigger, stronger, who picks up on someone who’s not defenseless. This is two people, that are champions. The elite of the elite. And they choose to meet and prepare for each other. To me, it’s the most exciting thing in the world.”
Well, the UFC commentator delivered an excellent explanation there for the guest to eventually agree with him. That was definitely the martial artists in Joe Rogan speaking right there.
