Friday 7 October was not an ordinary day for Vladimir Putin. The Russian leader, in fact, blew out 70 candles even if, given the historic moment, the day was anything but festive. Always a little lover of his birthday, this time the Tsar has been forgotten by the foreign states that have decided to turn their backs on him after the invasion and the consequent war in Ukraine that has been going on for 227 days now.
Putin, 70 years without a party and few gifts
In fact, the times of the great parties are far away Vladimir Putin who, just 10 years ago, celebrated his birthday in Bali, where the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit was underway, in the company of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. In 2015, she even took the field in the Sochi Sports Palace for a match with professional hockey players.
The day of his 70 years, an important milestone, was however forgotten. The Russian president, as revealed by the Kremlin, he unwrapped a few gifts. A tractor ‘made in Belarus’, pumpkins and watermelons were the meager booty on Putin’s birthday, which he never concealed that he did not appreciate gifts and great gestures.

What did Putin do for his birthday
With the war in Ukraine in progress and with an eye always attentive to the movements of the enemy (which today set fire to the Kerch bridge connecting Russia and Crimea), Putin preferred not to lose focus on the goal of the conflict.
According to reports from his spokesperson Dmitry Peskovthe Russian leader had a “busy day” of work in St. Petersburg between “a series of international phone calls and an informal meeting with the leaders of the CSI (Commonwealth of Independent States)” in the Konstantinovsky Palace, in view of the next summit to be held in Astana next week “.
Children’s wishes
But while he was in St. Petersburg, a schoolchild came to Moscow in front of the Kremlin who had decided to congratulate the Russian president in person. In an icy Red Square and with the presidential palace turned off behind it, the group sang a chorus of good wishes for Putin.
