Star: Big Rapids’ Preston Younge won the individual regional championship in tennis for the Cardinals.
Star: CCA’s Alexis Carr had eight kills and six aces against Marion.
Star: Evart’s Dryson Derscheid made two extra points and the game winning 22-yard field to lift Evart over Houghton Lake 23-22.
Star: Morley Stanwood’s Makenna Martin had seven kill and six blocks in a win over Big Rapids.

Star: Chippewa Hills’ Ryleigh Allen finished second with a score of 82 at the Division 3 regional at St. Ives Golf Course,
Top three area football teams
Big Rapids: The Cardinals rolled to a 48-0 win over Morley Stanwood in a rainy homecoming game. Only throwing five passes, only completing one, but their rushing attack racked up 260 yards, averaging 8.7 yards a carry.
Evart: The Wildcats survived an upset bid by Houghton Lake with a 22-yard game-winning field goal with 1:16 left to win 23-22. Preston Wallace was 11-23 in the contest with 171 yards through the air and two touchdowns.
Reed City: The Coyotes were dominant against Grant, winning 45-0 in rainy conditions. They finished with 373 rushing yards off 33 carries and did not attempt a single pass over the course of the evening.

Chippewa Hills’ girls’ golf is headed for its fifth straight trip to the state finals after placing second at St. Ives Golf Course in Tuesday’s Division 3 regional. Their best scorers were Ryleigh Allen (82) and Madison Allen (84).
Big Rapids boys’ tennis: History was made at the Big Rapids tennis courts on Thursday as the host Cardinals won their first Division 3 regional championship with an upset over perennial power Petoskey. Preston Younge came home with a massive win for the Cardinals to give them the edge.
Reed City cross county boys team took first and the girls third on Thursday in the Chris Grabowski Memorial Race at Manistee. Anthony Kiaunis took first and Ryan Allen second. Carly Carlson took 12th.
