Jetstar Asia Launches Airbus A320s Singapore To Wuxi

Summary Jetstar Asia is launching a new nonstop route between Singapore and Wuxi.
The initial flights will operate twice a week but will increase to four weekly return flights starting in January 2024.
Jetstar Asia expects to carry over 70,000 passengers per year between the two destinations and sees strong interest in services to key Chinese ports.
Opening a new airline route brings excitement and challenges, especially when it’s the first time two destinations have been linked with a nonstop flight. Jetstar Asia has picked up that baton by launching a new route between Singapore and Wuxi, a city in China around 100 kilometers (62 miles) from Shanghai.
A new nonstop route to China
Yesterday, Jetstar Asia announced a new direct service between Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) and Wuxi’s Sunan Shuofang International Airport (WUX). When the service starts on December 28, Jetstar will be the only airline operating a nonstop flight between Singapore and Wuxi in southern Jiangsu province.

Initially, the service will operate twice weekly on Monday and Thursday and from January 15, 2024, it will increase to four weekly return flights on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. From Singapore Changi, the outbound flights will depart at 07:10 and arrive in Wuxi at 12:30, with the return leaving at 13:30 and arriving in Singapore at 18:55.
Jetstar Asia expects to carry more than 70,000 passengers per year between the two destinations, and CEO Barathan Pasupathi was pleased to announce a second China destination and another popular city in the airline’s growing network.
“Since China reopened their borders and entry requirements for foreign visitors returned to what they were pre-COVID, we’re seeing strong interest for services to key Chinese ports as well as increasing demand for services from China to Singapore.”

According to ch-aviation, Jetstar Asia operates a fleet of seven Airbus A320-200s configured in an all-economy 3-3 layout of 180 seats. Wuxi will be the airline’s second route between Singapore and China, complementing the existing service to Haikou, which operates four times weekly.
Two destinations with A320 flights
On Sunday, flight 3K817 was operated with a 2012 Airbus A320-200, registration 9V-JSR and MSN 05433, which departed Singapore Changi at 07:44 and landed at Haikou Meilan International (HAK) at 10:49. The return flight left HAK at 12:08 are was back in Singapore at 15:05.
Wuxi sits on the shores of Taihu Lake, one of China’s largest freshwater lakes and is a culturally and historically prominent city and an economic center and export hub. Pasupathi said that China is an important market for Jetstar Asia, and Wuxi has the right dynamics to be a successful route, with much to see and do in the city and surrounding region.
He also believes it will drive traffic from China to Singapore and other destinations on the airline’s Asian network, with the launch coming in time for the New Year celebrations and the welcome of the Year of the Dragon. To stimulate that, Jetstar is offering special one-way fares from Singapore to Wuxi from just SG$178 ($130).
These fares are for travel between January and May 2024 and are available on the website until 23:59 (SGT) on Monday, October 16, with applicable terms and conditions. Club Jetstar members can access cheaper fares, starting from SG$168 ($123), and travelers can sign up when booking on Jetstar’s website.
