NBA legend Charles Barkley is known for his hot takes and funny comments alongside his buddy Shaquille O’Neal on TNT. The sports analyst is one of the most reputed experts in the NBA with a net worth of $60 million. However, despite his popularity, the 11-time All-Star has kept himself away from social media platforms for a long time. Recently, Barkley emphasized his tough social media beliefs despite an eye-opening admission from NFL legend Tom Brady.

Barkley was one of Michael Jordan‘s top rivals back in the day. He was an essential asset for the Phoenix Suns between 1992 and 1996, leading the franchise to the NBA Finals in 1993 against Jordan’s Chicago Bulls. While discussing the social media controversy involving Kyrie Irving and Kanye West, Barkley doubled down on his views against the internet platforms.

Charles Barkley has no plans of joining social media
Charles Barkley recently appeared in the ‘Let’s Go’ podcast hosted by Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald, and Jim Gray. One of the hosts, Jim Gray, pointed out that Barkley had never been on social media, yet he talked a lot about it. He asked Barkley why and how he managed to stay away from social media. The NBA Hall of Famer suggested that one reason he avoids social media was the lack of control over his temper.
Moreover, Barkley shared that it gave people too much power, which ultimately results in them using it for wrong reasons and impolite behavior. Chuck reckoned that he had problems with control and could refrain from responding to his critics. So, he decided to stay away from social media altogether.
Charles Barkley said, “I have had many opportunities, and I’ve been offered tons of money to do it. And I said no! I don’t need that dirty money.”
Barkley claimed that he had no intentions of being in a business where people were paid to be rude to others. Thus, he claimed that he was unlikely to join social media anytime soon.

Tom Brady agreed with Charles Barkley’s thoughts. He pointed out that there was a lack of scrutiny on social media. The seven-time Super Bowl champ stated that a lot of time celebrities are criticized for saying too much, or not saying anything at all. Brady stated that social media gave an option to people to promote what they believe in. At the same time, he suggested that people needed to do it in a positive way instead of causing harm and hurt.

The NFL legend also revealed the reason why he used social media. Tom Brady said, “Everyone should try to make the world a better place in their own particular way. Hopefully, that is what I use social media for.”
