Google unveiled the Pixel 8 series only five days ago, and it appears that there is another device from the lineup that the company decided to keep under wraps. The previously leaked Pixel 8a has finally shown up again, but this time in actual 3D renders, showing Google’s upcoming affordable Pixel device.
The Pixel 8a packs the same great hardware as its older siblings but a more rounded design and a cheaper price tag
The Pixel 8a borrows a lot from its elder siblings and, at the same time, ditches some of the characteristics. For instance, the phone is a lot rounder than the elder siblings on both top and bottom. The camera bar is still there, but it is lacking a sensor, which should not really come as a surprise.
The source claims that the Pixel 8a measures 152.1 x 72.6 x 8.9mm and will offer a 6.1-inch flat screen with a hole-punch camera, thin bezels, and an in-display fingerprint reader. The display appears to have a 2.5D curved glass on top, giving an illusion that the display is curved. The USB Type-C port sits at the bottom.
For those wondering about the specs, the Pixel 8a is said to sport the Tensor G3 chipset along with a Mali-G715 GPU. The phone will also start with 8 gigs of RAM and will be running Android 14 out of the box.
There is no denying that the Pixel 8a looks like a compelling offer for anyone who is looking to buy a Pixel phone but does not want to spend top dollar on it. Earlier today, we talked about how Google has confirmed that there will never be a low-end Pixel phone, so keep that in mind. Expect to pay $400+ for this, but honestly, looking at the specs and what it might offer, I don’t think many people will have an issue. Another thing to note here is that considering how it will be sporting a Tensor G3 chipset, there is a possibility that some AI-related features will make their way to the phone, and of course, seven years of updates, too.
Sadly, we do not know when Google plans on announcing the Pixel 8a, but considering just how recent the Pixel 8 phones are, the company is going to take its time with the new device, probably launching it early next year. Whatever the case is, we will keep you posted.
