If you travel on I-35 northbound and want to access Highways 21 or 60 at Faribault, you will be detoured to the Rice Co. Rd. 48 off-ramp (Exit 55).
The work at the Exit 55 I-35 northbound off-ramp to Co. Rd. 48 is anticipated to be finished June 14th and the ramp will reopen to traffic to allow for this change. This ramp has been closed since April 15th.
Traffic impacts, June 14th into July
The below traffic impacts are part of the 2-year project that started in 2023. Work includes resurfacing 4.6 miles of I-35 in Rice County and improving ramps and bridges.
I-35 northbound off-ramps to Hwy 21 and Hwy 60 closed. Traffic will take the off-ramp to Co. Rd. 48.
I-35 southbound and northbound traffic will continue to travel in a single lane, adjacent to each, in the I-35 southbound lanes. Traffic is scheduled to shift to the northbound lanes in July.
I-35 northbound on-ramp from Hwy 60 will continue to be closed. Traffic will be directed to take Hwy 60 to Hwy 21 northbound. It is anticipated that this ramp will reopen to traffic in July.
Motorists should be alert of possible traffic slowdowns and backups, especially Friday-Sunday and other peak times.
