Recently, the LIV players had expressed some blunt criticism of Tiger Woods’ new venture. An icon spoke in a seemingly dismissive way about the league. Another LIV golfer took the time to explain his perspective on the venture. Overall, the LIV camp seems to not take TGL that seriously.
Ian Poulter shares his ten cents on the TGL initiative

NUCLR GOLF’s recent tweet highlighted key statements from a recent Ian Poulter interview. The interview centered on his team Majesticks but also touched up on the topic of TGL.
Poulter acknowledged how team sports are being valued for their worth in recent days. He cited examples of investments in sports teams, and team events of late. He even mentioned Rory McIlroy’s recent investment in the F1 racing team Alpine.
It turns out that in the LIV circle, TGL doesn’t have much hype. A LIV Golf player apparently felt that the TGL was unlikely to appeal to the audience. To quote his opinion, “Will you be turning in on a Tuesday night to watch guys hitting it into a screen?”
Poulter explained his perspective clearly. He felt that the team sports concept was a solid winner. “It’s not just the potential profit margin, it’s being involved and the fun to be had. It’s a win, win.” He recognized how everyone wants a piece of that pie. But he strongly iterated his opinion that LIV has been a leader in this race, in golf.
Earlier, when golf analysts compared TGL and LIV, LIV supporters laughed it off. They claimed that while TGL teams might get investors; the money involved is no match for LIV golf’s scale.

The major skepticism about TGL, led by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, is with the virtual format of the league. The games won’t be happening in real courses. Rather, they will take place in indoor environments where a virtual course will be accessible to the players.
Simpy-put, it is indeed hitting the ball into a screen. However, as some fans pointed out in the comments of the tweet, there is more to this. One fan had mentioned that the proximity of the format might give space for more fun banter between the players. That actually makes sense.
As for overall support, TGL has a significant amount of excitement from the fans, as seen from the comments of the tweet discussed. There are also doubts about how engaging the format could be.

With exactly half the number of teams and players now compared to LIV, TGL is fast approaching its launch. Irrespective of its scale and format, the competition (or even a semblance of a contest) it poses to LIV is surely exciting.
