EA SPORTS (NASDAQ:EA) College Football 25 has been released worldwide Friday with 2.2M unique players already playing during Early Access and an additional 600K playing via the EA Play trial. The game features all 134 Bowl subdivision colleges, abbreviated as FBS, playing in more than 150 college stadiums with thousands of current college football athletes.
“This game is for the fans, and the response we’ve seen from across the collegiate landscape, athletes, creators, celebrities, and the core community has been nothing short of spectacular,” said senior VP and Group General Manager for EA SPORTS, Daryl Holt.
The game also features 167 college fight songs and an original theme song from a Grammy-nominated composer. The game is available on PlayStation5 and Xbox Series X/S (MSFT).
The anticipation for the game and reception could push EA’s FY25 bookings to the company’s $7.7B target and overcome underwhelming sales for EA’s Apex Legends and resuscitate EA’s stagnant pipeline.
“EA is in need of more big hits on the horizon to help languid growth following a disappointing quarter and so far these are mostly not materializing,” said SA investor group Futurist Stocks, adding that, “College Football 25 carries a lot of the expectations in this regard, so the game’s reception will be an important bellwether for the stock.”
