SURPRISE, Ariz. — And now for the spoils.
The Texas Rangers may be focused on getting ready for the 2024 season, but there are still two big upcoming commemorations of winning the first World Series in franchise history. It’s all about the accessories. As defending World Series champs, they will wear gold-trimmed uniforms — including a gold “T” on their royal blue caps — to start the season. They will wear them again the next day when they receive their World Series bling.

The Rangers have chosen jeweler Jason of Beverly Hills to design their championship rings, which will pay homage to the club’s record 11 straight postseason road wins, among other tributes. While designer Jason Arasheben has designed championship rings for NFL, NBA and NHL teams, this will be his first foray into a World Series ring. According to Rangers Senior Vice President of Marketing Travis Dillon, that fits perfectly with the Rangers’ story.

“It actually was one of the things that drew us to them,” Dillon said Thursday. “We connected over that. We loved the synergy.”

Now, what about that bling?
Well, much of it remains an intentional mystery up until they are unveiled, but Dillon acknowledged a couple of elements that will be incorporated, including the road win record. Numbers have become an important part of the story told on championship rings. On the Houston Astros’ 2022 ring, designed by Jostens, the team’s star logo was surrounded by 71 round natural diamonds, representing the MLB record 71 strikeouts by Astros pitchers in the World Series and 117 natural diamonds surround the “H” logo, symbolic of the Astros’ combined regular and postseason wins.

Jostens also designed Atlanta’s 2021 World Series ring, which featured 755 diamonds, a tribute to Henry Aaron, and one pearl, a nod to the pearl necklace outfielder Joc Pederson wore throughout the playoff run. It also featured a removable ring top that, when popped open, depicted Atlanta’s home field Truist Park illuminated by mini-led lights.
So, what else might the Rangers ring include?

Other significant numbers for the franchise might include 72 to represent the year the team moved to Arlington and 52 for the number of seasons played in Arlington before winning. Other elements of the season that might be incorporated are the team’s postseason “Go and Take It” and “Went and Took It” slogans and Creed’s “Higher,” which became the unofficial theme song of the team. Has a championship ring ever included a mini music player?

Hey, it might be a first. And innovation is king in the ring biz. The rings for the 2023 NBA champion Denver Nuggets, designed by Jason of Beverly Hills, featured a lever that shifted color of the background from white diamonds to blue sapphires. It had a retractable compartment that featured the team’s first NBA championship banner. The rings for 2023 Stanley Cup winners Las Vegas also includes a removable top that, when removed, displays the team’s home ice.
“How to innovate is something we took seriously,” Dillon said. “We wanted to do something that hasn’t been done before.”

The players’ rings will officially be unveiled March 30 before the Rangers face the Chicago Cubs in the second game of the season. Dillon said every full- and part-time employee of the club will receive a ring. It is likely, however, the players’ ring will differ from the one employees receive. The Rangers will also have a fan program available, allowing fans to purchase versions of the ring. Both the Nuggets and Knights have such programs that include pendants, earrings and a “Super Fan” championship ring. The Nuggets and Knights programs list rings that run from $895 to $9,995 for the “Super Fan” ring.
The Rangers will also present replica rings on five different occasions over the course of the year. The first four will feature versions of the rings that will be presented to Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, Adolis García and Nathan Eovaldi. A fifth “mystery” night giveaway is also slated.
The Rangers will wear their gold-trimmed uniforms for six games this season: The first three games of the season against the Chicago Cubs, April 10 vs. Oakland (replica World Series trophy giveaway), May 14th vs. Cleveland (Seager replica ring) and June 4 vs. Detroit (Semien replica ring).

The uniform tops and hats are expected to be available in the team’s grand slam gift shop on March 21, a week ahead of the season opener.
