MagicBand+ technology will launch on Disney Cruise Line, beginning with a preview on select Disney Wish sailings. Disney Cruise Line did not announce an exact timeframe, but the preview will be happening this summer, during the Silver Anniversary at Sea. It will roll out to other ships sometime after the preview.
On Disney Cruise Line, MagicBand+ is called DisneyBand+ and three exclusive designs will be available. But MagicBand+ bands from Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort will also work on the ships. A DisneyBand+ purchased on one sailing can also be used on future sailings.
Key to the World cards will still be issued and required (along with a photo ID) to debark and embark at ports of call.
Guests on select summer 2023 Disney Wish sailings will be able to order a DisneyBand+ by visiting My Reservations on the Disney Cruise Line website or app between 11 and 45 days before their sail date. Shipping is available to U.S.A. addresses and a limited number of bands will be available for purchase on board the ship.
Guests will be able to use DisneyBand+ to unlock their stateroom door and charge their room for purchases. Kids will be able to use their DisneyBand+ to access Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Scuttle’s Cove on Castaway Cay in lieu of an Oceaneer Club Band. Like regular MagicBands and MagicBand+, DisneyBand+ is waterproof.
Just like in the parks, guests can use their DisneyBand+ to link their vacation photos to their stateroom.
Disney promises more “enchanting surprises,” potentially special interaction with areas around the Disney Cruise Line ships and with fireworks shows.
Disney Cruise Line Silver Anniversary at Sea
Disney Cruise Line is about to celebrate 25 years of sailing with the Silver Anniversary at Sea this summer. The celebration will be on select sailings from May through September 2023. The first Disney Cruise Line ship, Disney Magic, launched in 1998.
Mickey and Minnie just revealed their new shimmering teal and white costumes for the anniversary celebration. The rest of their friends will also have new costumes. The Silver Anniversary at Sea theme song was released.
Guests will be invited to join the ship’s captain and cruise director on one evening of each cruise for a special anniversary toast. They will be joined by Captain Mickey and Captain Minnie in their new Silver Anniversary at Sea outfits and the toast will feature the anniversary’s new theme song.
Disney Cruise Line was the first cruise line ever to have a fireworks show at sea. A new 25th-anniversary fireworks display will premiere on Silver Anniversary at Sea itineraries. The limited-time show will feature iconic Disney music and a new signature song. The show will be on most Bahamian, Caribbean, and Mediterranean sailings this summer.
The anniversary of Disney Cruise Line also heralds the unveiling of a brand-new membership tier for Castaway Club, which recognizes returning Disney Cruise Line guests with exclusive rewards and perks. Honoring 25 years of Disney magic at sea, members will now earn the distinction of Pearl status after 25 Disney Cruise Line vacations. As the line’s biggest fans, Pearl members will unlock new at-home and onboard benefits, which will be announced in early 2023.
Castaway Club members who sail during the “Silver Anniversary at Sea” will receive a limited edition 11×14 framed Captain Mickey art print in their stateroom. The artwork is by Disney artist Joe Kaminski.
Shimmering Seas Collection of merchandise includes a Loungefly mini backpack, Spirit Jersey, and more. Check out a first look at the anniversary merch.
Bookings for summer 2023 cruises featuring the “Silver Anniversary at Sea” celebration are available now on disneycruise.com, and there are plenty of itineraries to choose from:

From May 7 to Sept. 17, the Disney Dream will sail transatlantic and European itineraries, including the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and the Greek Isles.
The Disney Fantasy will set sail from Port Canaveral, Florida May 6 to Sept. 2 to the Eastern and Western Caribbean, each with a day at Castaway Cay.
Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Wish, will depart on sailings to Nassau, Bahamas and Castaway Cay May 1 to Sept. 8 from Port Canaveral.
