Northland motorists have come to expect delays when traveling between Duluth and Superior. It can happen at any time of the year, not just during summer when road construction projects peak.
While it’s usually related to the $435 million Twin Ports Interchange Project, which interrupts travel year-round, other things need to be done that also impact travel.
Recently, the Minnesota Department of Transportation gave notice that a couple of those things need to be done this month and motorists need to prepare.

Furthermore, the I-535 Blatnik Bridge will undergo single-lane closures in both directions between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday until July 25, to allow for routine bridge inspections and maintenance.
Motorists are encouraged to be patient during this time and allow for extra time to reach their destination. Also, please drive with caution and be mindful of MnDOT crews working on these projects.
