OZARK, Mo. (KMIZ)
For the third time in five seasons, Blair Oaks is returning to the state championship stage. The Falcons defeated Lutheran St. Charles 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Ozark Mountain Sports Complex, behind a tremendous performance from Jacob Tellman on the mound.
The senior tossed 6.2 innings in the final pitching appearance of his high school career, allowing just one earned run on eight hits and striking out 11 batters.
Lutheran St. Charles did put the first run of the game on the scoreboard with an RBI single from Anden Hyde, but the Falcons responded with four unanswered runs. Zane Halford tied the game on a fielder’s choice in the home half of the first inning, and then, Blair Oaks took the lead on an RBI single from Easton DeMilia and a sacrifice fly from Nolan Laughlin in the second frame. Jaden Rackers added an insurance run for the Falcons in the fifth frame by sliding over home plate safely on a wild pitch.
Easton DeMilia posted Blair Oaks’ lone multi-hit effort in the contest while Warren Davis and Nolan Laughlin each tallied one hit. The Falcons only recorded four hits in the game but drew five walks.
Up next – Blair Oaks is aiming to win its fourth state championship in program history. The Falcons will battle the Benton Cardinals on Thursday, May 30 at 1 p.m. in the Class 4 State Title Game.
