TSA gives Chiefs fans Super Bowl travel tips

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Chiefs fans heading to Las Vegas can expect a very busy airport this week as they embark on their Super Bowl trip.
With the busy airport, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has given travelers a few tips to have a seamless travel experience.
TSA officials expect travel volume to increase out of Kansas City International Airport this week as locals head to Super Bowl LVIII.
The average daily passenger volume at KCI is typically 14,000 passengers per day. This week is expected to grow to 16,000 to 17,000 passengers daily leading up to the game on Sunday.
TSA advises travelers to get to the airport at least two hours before their scheduled flight to ensure enough time to get through security.
“Planning is critical when traveling on busy weeks like this,” said Angela Brooks, TSA Federal Security Director for Missouri.
“Arriving at the airport with extra time and knowing what can and can’t be packed in carry-on and checked bags will save you time and keep things moving quickly at checkpoints.”
If you are dying to bring some KC-style barbecue sauce to Vegas… Make sure it’s in a checked bag.
Passengers can bring solid foods with them; however, if you can spill it, spray it, spread it, pump it or pour it, then it should be packed in checked bags, including barbecue sauces and tailgating beverages.
If you’re planning to bring red and gold paint to cover your face or body during the game, make sure the bottle is 3.4 ounces or less.
When you return home make sure to pack Super Bowl LVIII programs in your carry-on. Other souvenirs like hats, helmets, footballs, pennants, T-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, plastic cups and rally flags may be packed in a carry-on or checked bag.
If you have more questions about what you can bring to watch the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers, you can visit the TSA website or check out their app.
