VIENNA, VA — For high school athletes, their dream may be to continue their playing career on the collegiate and professional level.
That’s where Mid-Atlantic Sports Consultants comes in. Owner Nick Kourtesis has competed on in collegiate and professional sports and — with his team — helps athletes work through the college recruiting process. “I have been involved in the athletics in Vienna for close to 20 years. This includes coaching basketball, baseball and soccer, as well as working with several Vienna and Oakton HS athletes to get recruited for college sports,” Kourtesis told Patch.
The business opened in 2012 with one employee and two interns. Now, Mid-Atlantic Sports Consultants has a team with consultants in swimming, baseball, soccer and football. The consulting business has helped various DC area athletes find places to play collegiate athletics. While making a college or professional team is the focus of the process, Mid-Atlantic Sports Consultants emphasizes the importance of academics. The business notes that athletes may not make college teams if they don’t meet the academic requirements. The business helps student athletes get their academic needs met and can assist with meeting NCAA requirements. Most recently, the business moved to a larger office and revamped its website, according to Kourtesis.
