With the new NASCAR season still a couple of months away, two-time NASCAR champion Joey Logano is indulging in some off-track racing. He recently put up a tweet somewhat recreating an iconic scene from a beloved NASCAR film. He pulled it off, but not exactly at a racetrack as the movie did, rather on what looked like an indoor football field.

The ending scene of the cult classic NASCAR movie, Days of Thunder, showed Tom Cruise’s character and his crew chief race on foot with each other. Decades later, Joey Logano and his crew chief tried the exact thing. But perhaps they forgot to do it, at Phoenix Raceway, when he has crowned the champion. They ended up doing it later on at a football ground.

Joey Logano is now a two-time Cup Series Champion

Following a spectacular playoff season, Joey Logano capitalized on his wins early into the playoffs. When he arrived at Phoenix, he was already prepared and had an advantage over all the other teams.

The Team Penske driver scored a pole on Saturday and remained confident to win it all. He even justified how he and his team had all the additional time to plan for the last race, while others were busy trying to secure themselves into the championship four.

When race day arrived, Joey Logano effortlessly cruised into the distance, only being overtaken by non-playoff drivers once or twice throughout the race. Meanwhile, behind him, the watermelon man pushed Chase Elliott out of his way and into the wall in his quest to chase behind the Team Penske driver. However, at the end of the day, Chastain was never able to catch up to Logano. Moments later, Logano crossed the checkered flag and claimed the 2022 Cup Series championship. This made him one of the few drivers on the present grid to have two championships to his name.
