During the Academy Awards on March 15, Disney Cruise Line released a heartwarming advertisement centered on the magic of family traditions and memories during a Disney vacation.
“Midnight Magic” Ad
In the advertisement, we see a father and son meandering on a Disney Cruise Line ship late at night. As it continues on, the baby grows up, and the tradition continues as the theme from Up plays softly in the background. We see them transition from childhood into adulthood and, eventually, into grandparenthood.
“Disney has brought families closer together for generations,” said Asad Ayaz, chief marketing and brand officer of The Walt Disney Company, in a release. “This campaign embodies what guests tell us time and again: that the Disney experiences they cherish most are the ones spent with the people they love. We’re grateful to make that kind of Disney magic a reality.”
While the ad highlights the experiences of this one family, it is meant to represent the myriad experiences of many families that experience a Disney vacation together. The overall theme is that of building family traditions, even in the stillness of the night.
The spot arrives during an exciting period of growth for Disney Cruise Line. Five new ships are planned by 2031, bringing the fleet to a total of 13 ships worldwide. That expansion includes the recent launch of Disney Destiny in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and the debut of Disney Adventure in Singapore earlier this month as the cruise line’s first ship in Asia.
Along with more departure ports around the globe to destinations spanning the Caribbean, The Bahamas, Europe, Alaska, and beyond, this ongoing expansion is enabling Disney Cruise Line to welcome more families than ever before.
