Video captures rare view of classic, one-of-a-kind luxury liner in waters off of NYC

You don’t get to see this every day.
Video has captured footage of a classic, one-of-a-kind luxury liner making its way through the waters of New York City.
The ship is the ocean liner RMS Queen Mary 2.
The vessel, the flagship of the Cunard Line, was seen in The Narrows on Friday night on its way out for a recent voyage.
The Queen Mary 2 is a singular vessel in that it is the only cruise ship in the world that still makes voyages across the Atlantic Ocean, sailing between New York and Southampton in the U.K.
And while the ship was not heading for Europe on this most recent trip, it was still a majestic sight.
The Queen Mary 2, which was christened by Queen Elizabeth II and made its maiden voyage in 2004, was seen after leaving the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook at around 6 p.m. on Oct. 3.
It steamed past Staten Island as the sun was setting and then under the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge on its way to a two-week cruise through ports in New England and Canada. It is set to return on Oct. 17.
In addition to North American and Atlantic cruises, the Queen Mary 2 also makes cruises through Europe and to the Caribbean.
The vessel carries 2,695 passengers and 1,253 officers and crew.
The Queen Mary 2 replaced the aging Queen Elizabeth 2 in the Cunard fleet.
The original Queen Mary liner sailed from 1936 to 1967 for Cunard. That vessel currently serves as a hotel, museum and convention space in Long Beach, Calif.
The Queen Mary vessels were named in honor Mary of Teck, the Queen of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions from 1910 to 1936.
She was the wife of King George V and the mother of King Edward VIII and King George VI.
King George VI was the father of Queen Elizabeth II and the grandfather of King Charles III.
