The public eye is a scary place to be in. With the spotlight trained on a person, it feels like their every single move is going to be analyzed by the press. The resulting comments are not always flattering, and it’s especially difficult when someone has to go through it alone. No matter how supportive one’s family is, finding a person that truly gets, it can be hard. But fortunately for them, pro golfer Tiger Woods and MLB veteran Derek Jeter had each other.
Jeter and Woods are superstars in their respective sports and because of the nature of their respective sports, Jeter retired in 2016 while Woods still swings his clubs. Hanging up his pinstripes inspired the former Yankee to take up another sport, and he picked golf. The two friends even played a few rounds with each other and only had words of praise.

The green grasses of a golf course may be Woods’ territory, but the former Yankee once showed he wasn’t exactly lacking in talent either. At a game in 2016, sometime before Woods was set to return to the course, the two friends had a rare outing. They were joined by Jeter’s former teammate Tino Martinez and professional English golfer Justin Rose.
Speaking of Jeter’s skills, Woods couldn’t stop gushing. He told USA Today, “He asked me a bunch of technical questions about the game, and I could hear him pick the brain over there with Rosie. He wants to know. He’s one of the best athletes who ever lived. He wants to learn. He asks the right questions.”

Jeter was, of course, no stranger to golf because of the celebrity golf tournaments held by his charity, Turn 2 Foundation. Talking about Woods, he commented, “This is a blast. You’re playing with Tiger Woods. Doesn’t get any better than that.”

In 2016, Wright Thompson of ESPN wrote a piece on Tiger Woods that brought out the various sides of his personality. Recalling an anecdote from his bachelor days, Thompson wrote about the two friends going clubbing with none other than Michael Jordan. But despite their names, Jordan and Jeter weren’t the stars of this story, Woods was.
In a hilarious turn of events, Woods asked his famous friends, “What do you do to talk to girls?” In light of recent years and Woods’ troubles with infidelity, this might seem rather absurd. But it’s true, the pro golfer asked for advice on womanizing from Jordan and Jeter. Jeter was admittedly single back then and only became a one-woman man after retiring from baseball. But back in his glory days, he was famous for his celebrity girlfriends.
