Strongsville vs. Medina football: Mustangs cruise past Bees, 42-14

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio — In the return of star running back Kendrick Boddie, the Strongsville Mustangs’ three touchdowns in the second quarter helped pave the way for a 42-14 victory over the Medina Bees.
With the game tied 7-7 less than a minute into the second quarter, Strongsville began to pull away after a 91-yard kickoff return touchdown by junior Nathan Rodak. The rest of the second quarter, the Mustangs kept the momentum, scoring two more touchdowns in the half and securing their lead over Medina.
In a team effort from Strongsville, Boddie and freshman Austin Tatulinski helped lead the team to a win, scoring two touchdowns apiece. Tatulinski, one of cleveland.com’s top breakout players of the 2025 season, started the game and was the first to score, rushing for two 4-yard touchdowns.
Boddie ran for 153 yards on two attempts, scoring two touchdowns, the first of which was an 80-yard, third down rushing play with a minute to go in the fourth quarter.
Returning from an injury, Boddie only ran twice the whole game but came out strong on his two touchdown runs.
“I already knew I was gonna get limited reps,” he said, “so [it was] just me … taking what I can get and making the most out of it.”
Along with a strong showing from the running backs, the Mustang’s defense stepped up, with senior defensive lineman and Ohio University commit Austin Adkins tallying six sacks and senior linebacker Storm Miller, a Texas A&M commit, tying the team record of 27 career sacks.
“The boys come out to play,” Strongsville head coach Jason Trusnick said, his team 5-1 and ranked 12th in this week’s cleveland.com Top 25 . “You can see that on all three phases: offense, defense, special teams. Everybody’s making plays and they’re playing together.”
With two touchdowns in the second half to seal the deal, the Mustangs ended the game with a total of 250 rushing yards and 93 passing yards.
Though Medina (2-4) did not come out victorious, it fought until the end, with junior quarterback River Blomquist leading the charge. The Bees offense primarily included passing to one of the many wide receivers, especially Sydney Lloyd and Brian Wuchter, and rushes by Blomquist, who finished with 36 yards on 23 attempts. He scored a 2-yard rushing touchdown late in the game. The junior also threw for 184 yards on 25 attempts.
“We had too many missed opportunities in the first half,” said Medina coach Larry Laird. “Offensively we struggled a little bit protecting the quarterback …but we had opportunities.”
Next week the Mustangs visit Mentor to face off against the 6-0 Cardinals (No. 4 in the Top 25). The Bees host 1-5 Cleveland Heights.
