“Shook Tom Cruise’s Hand”: Ski Legend and Mikaela Shiffrin’s Boyfriend Recalls Meeting Hollywood Icon During F1 Race

Earlier this year, Alpine ski racer Mikaela Shiffrin attended the Silverstone Grand Prix with her muse Aleksander Aamodt Kilde.
The skiing power couple was not the only celebrities to be present at the event though. Hollywood heartthrob Tom Cruise was also there to grace the event with his charming presence.

In a recent interview with Olympics.com, Mikaela and her boyfriend discussed how they felt when they met the Mission Impossible star at the F1 event. The Norwegian athlete explained how Silverstone was one of his favorite tracks, and also what made visiting these events so special.

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde’s interaction with superstar Tom Cruise
Carlos Sainz, representing Ferrari, achieved his first-ever pole position in Formula One at the qualifiers. The 30-year-old athlete from Norway’s Bærum district, Kilde, was present to witness the event. While visiting the Silverstone Grand Prix with his muse, Mikaela; he encountered Tom Cruise and seemed elated to exchange pleasantries with him.

“I had so much fun being at the Formula One event, meeting incredible people, but also seeing the interest around Formula One and the sport in general,” said Aleksander. The skiing legend also considers Tom Cruise to be one of the last cinema stars to still act in contemporary Hollywood movies.
“I also shook Tom Cruise’s hand, he’s the last cinema star we have, and that was also incredible,” Kilde added. “When it comes to experiences Silverstone was one of my favorite ones, for sure.”

The three-time Olympic winner claims that they first connected during a FIS Alpine Ski World Cup almost seven years ago. Regarding their initial meeting, Shiffrin remarked, “I think he started the conversation by saying ‘Hi.’ He also sent the first friend request. He technically asked me on a date later that year”

Shiffrin said Klide continued to be respectful to her even after she rejected him and began dating other people. But it wasn’t until 2021 that the two athletes connected through their most trying period. While Mikaela grieved over losing her father, Klide struggled with a serious injury that left him half-paralyzed.

They became Instagram official in May 2021 when Kilde posted a candid picture of them together with the caption, “if you know, you know, and now you know.”
