REVIEW: Plaza de Coco 1st Night Dinner on Disney Treasure is Almost as Good as the 2nd Night

Because the Disney Treasure sails for 5-7 night itineraries and guests dine at some restaurants twice, the Plaza de Coco restaurant offers two different menus. The live entertainment is also different, with the first night focused on “La Familia.”
The Plaza de Coco interior is inspired by the town of Santa Cecilia and the Rivera’s shoe shop from “Coco.” During the “La Familia” show, guests are treated to musical performances by Miguel and his (living) family.
Most menu items are included in the cost of the voyage. Alcoholic and other specialty beverages have an additional cost.

Plaza de Coco Bread Service Reviews
Dinner Rolls These are standard dinner rolls served at every Disney Cruise Line dinner. They’re a safe and vegan alternative to the chips and salsa. They’re as good as you would expect. Butter is included. Rating out of 7: 5
Chips and Salsa The same chips and salsa are served both nights at Plaza de Coco. The salsa looks potentially too heavy on the tomato but it’s great, as are the chips. Rating out of 7: 7
Plaza de Coco Entradas Reviews
Chorizo Street Croquettes Toasted Corn, Chili-Lime Crema, Cotija Cheese, Cilantro The fried exterior of the croquettes is perfect. The interior is rich and creamy. You can taste the chorizo and there’s a kick of spice. Rating out of 7: 5
Abuelita Elena’s Shrimp Diabla Sautéed Garlic Shrimp, Sliced Fingerling Potatoes, Mild Chili-Chipotle Sauce, Cilantro, Pickled Red Onion, Toasted Birotes This also has a nice kick. The chili-chipotle sauce is labeled “mild” but this might be spicier than some expect. There are four shrimp, which are cooked to perfection and not fishy. You can order as much as you want but it’s a decent sized serving anyway. Rating out of 7: 6
Toasted Pumpkin Seed, Garbanzo Bean “Hummus” Pumpkin Seed, Garbanzo Bean, Orange, Lime, Roasted Garlic, Cucumber, Jicama, Bolillos The included bread is not fresh but it’s good. It’s a bit oily and very garlicky. The hummus is excellent. We love the flavor, which we can really only describe as tasting like garbanzo beans. It’s well seasoned. Rating out of 7: 6
Goats Cheese, Yellow and Red Beet Tower Almond Crumble, Chive-Honey Dressing This has a nice presentation. The goat cheese isn’t the highest quality but it’s good and works well with the beet. There’s definitely a honey sweetness on top of the punch of the cheese. Rating out of 7: 5
Plaza de Coco Ensaladas
Cucumber and Queso Fresco Salad Pickled Red Onions, Serrano Chili, Lime, Cilantro, Baby Oak Leaf, Lola Rosso Baby Romaine Salad Baby Romaine, Cherry Tomatoes, Roasted Corn, Lime Pepitas, Cotija Cheese, Creamy Cumin-Avocado Dressing
Plaza de Coco Sopa Reviews
Chicken Tortilla Soup Pulled Red Chili Chicken, Cut Corn, Black Beans, Red Bell Pepper, Cilantro, Queso Fresco, Crisp Tortilla This is our favorite item of the meal. It’s perfect and spicy. The chicken is tender and juicy. The tomato is rich. Rating out of 7: 7
Red and Green Lentil Soup Paprika Spiced Sausage, Carrots, Fire Roasted Tomatoes This is also an excellent soup. It’s well seasoned. The vegetables and the sausage come through with a bit of a peppery kick. Rating out of 7: 7
Plaza de Coco Platos Principales Reviews
Gemelli Pasta Roasted Sun-dried Tomato, Baby Spinach, Ripped Basil, Lemon Zest, Black Pepper, Burrata Cheese, Olive Oil
Luisa’s Pollo Asado Michoacán Citrus-spiced Roasted Chicken, Cilantro Rice, Tostones, Serrano-Tomatillo Salsa
Red Capsicum and Green Parsley Grilled Snapper Fried Yucca, Refried Beans, Spinach, Pico de Gallo, Lime There isn’t a ton of flavor from the red capsicum or the snapper. The snapper is a little tough but it’s all right. The yucca fries are excellent. Still, it’s a relatively bland and forgettable dish. Rating out of 7: 3
Butternut Squash Enchilada Pinto Bean, Baby Spinach, Chihuahua Cheese, Roasted Corn, Red Guajillo Chile Sauce This is a vegetarian dish. The sauce brought a little bit of spice to the enchilada which was sorely needed. Disney is afraid to serve too much spice to people. It’s a little doughy, unfortunately. The flavors are all there. The beans are perfectly cooked. Rating out of 7: 5
Pasilla-Brown Sugar Rubbed Roasted Pork Tenderloin Whipped Boniato, Chard, Crisp Taro Chips, Maple Jus This is relatively small, but size doesn’t matter much when you can order as many entrées as you want. The rub is great and brings a lot of flavor to the pork’s exterior. Unfortunately, the pork is a little dry. If it was more tender and juicy, this would be one of the best dishes. The mash is good. Rating out of 7: 4
Plant-Based Tacos Wild Mushrooms, Chiles Toreados, Apple-Chayote Slaw, Cashew Crema, Pico de Gallo, Soft Flour Tortillas This is the only vegan dish on the menu (of course, you can ask to customize other dishes or just get sides, if you need). It has a lot of slaw, maybe too much. The mushrooms are quite good. They’re tender. But a little overpowered by the slaw. It’s a solid vegan option, which is good when there aren’t a lot of vegan options. Rating out of 7: 4
Enrique’s Port Wine Braised Center Cut Beef Short Rib Cheddar Cheese-Green Onion Red Skin Mash, Long Green Beans, Crisp Shallots This is great. The beef is tender and juicy. We would like a little more seasoning but it’s still one of the best entrées. The mash is great, too. Rating out of 7: 6

Mexican Chocolate Tart
Warm Chocolate Tres Leches
Miguel’s “Remember Me” Sundae
Mamá Coco’s Coffee Créme (No Sugar Added)
Dessert Reviews
Margarita Lime Cheesecake Sea Salt Shortbread, Raspberry-Agave Margarita Coulis This isn’t bad but it has a very tart lime flavor. The coulis brings it to life, creating a tropical mix of flavors. It’s the best dessert option if you want something light and airy. Rating out of 7: 5
Tía Gloria’s Flan de Queso Cream Cheese Flan, Dried Apricot and Pineapple Florentine Snap The apricot and pineapple snap is interesting. It’s like a crispy caramel treat with natural apricot and pineapple flavors. The snap comes sitting on whipped cream. The cake is really good but it’s too rich. It’s like eating a block of caramel cream cheese. The whipped cream helps offset the richness but it’s still too overpowering. Rating out of 7: 4
Mexican Chocolate Tart Spiced Chocolate Créme, Caramel Pecan Nuts, Chocolate Glaze We weren’t sure about this at first bite — we mostly got a chalkiness with a dark chocolate flavor. Then the spice kicked in. It’s a delayed burn but it’s excellent. The dark chocolate flavor would be unremarkable by itself. The spiciness mixed with the sweetness is amazing. Rating out of 7: 7
Warm Chocolate Tres Leches Three Milk-soaked Coconut Cake, Caramel Sauce, Dulce de Leche Ice Cream This is the same excellent dulce de leche ice cream from the night 2 sundae. The cake has a profound coconut flavor. It’s light and moist. The ice cream brings it to another level with a milky, creamy flavor. We love it. Rating out of 7: 7
Miguel’s “Remember Me” Sundae Cookies ‘n’ Cream Ice Cream, Oreo Cookies, Chocolate Fudge Sauce, Whipped Cream This is as good as any other good Oreo sundae. It’s not very creative but it’s safe. The Oreo on top was stale, of course. Rating out of 7: 4
Mamá Coco’s Coffee Créme (No Sugar Added) Lady Fingers, Kahlua Espresso, Mascarpone Cheese For a no sugar added dessert, this is pretty good. It’s light and airy. You get an almond cake flavor from the lady fingers in the base. You do have to like coffee — it’s a rich flavor like you just drank espresso. The cheese is rich, too. Rating out of 7: 6

Plaza de Coco Cocktail Reviews
Recuerdame – $16 Teremana Reposado, Ancho Reyes, Mango, Lime, and Marigolds This is a solid margarita. It’s drinkable, with a nice flavor, and you get to eat marigolds. Rating out of 7: 6
Batanga – $10 Código Mezcal Artesanal, Lime, Coca-Cola, and Fizzy Candy This cocktail is complicated and weird, but good. It reminds us of the Token drink from Jaleo at Disney Springs. This isn’t as good but it’s still enjoyable and interesting. However, you don’t get a lot of Coca-Cola flavor. Rating out of 7: 5
Michelada – $10 Terrapin Cerveza Lager, Clamato, Cholula Hot Sauce, Worcestershire Sauce, and Tajín The Michelada isn’t bad, although there were disagreements among our group. We enjoyed it more than the Micheladas from Disney California Adventure, which are too chalky. It’s easy to drink and tomato-forward. There might be too much Tajín. Rating out of 7: 3
Plaza de Coco Zero-Proof Reviews
La Paloma – $8.50 Lyre’s Agave Blanco, Fever Tree Pink Grapefruit, and Wanderdust Shimmer If you told us there was alcohol in this, we would believe you, because there’s so much going on. It’s light, refreshing, and very drinkable. You do have to like grapefruit, which is the strongest flavor, though not overpowering. Rating out of 7: 5
Overall Thoughts on Plaza de Coco This was a good meal. We liked night 2 better, particularly the entrées, but the majority of the 1st night desserts are exceptional. And we would book another cruise just for the chicken tortilla soup. We’re impressed with Plaza de Coco and it will definitely be a favorite for Disney Cruise Line rotational dining.
