Refurbishment Work on Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise Adds Fresh Paint to Ride Queue

On a recent visit to Disneyland Resort, we spotted some new paint and texture work underway on the classic attraction.
Painting and Sanding Underway on the Jungle Cruise
Following the closure of Jungle Cruise for refurbishment work last month, we’re starting to see some outward-facing updates on elements of the ride’s queue.
In recent weeks since the start of the closure, various construction walls have gone up around the attraction’s entrance to obscure the ongoing refurbishment work. Disney has not officially announced the full-extent of developments on the ride, but now we can confirm some routine visual refreshes are underway.
On our latest visit to the park, we spotted some workers touching up the queue structure, specifically on the second floor above the ride’s ground-level queue. A worker wearing a white hard hat and safety vest could be seen behind the second floor’s wooden railings, painting with a paintbrush.
Protective plastic coverings and equipment can be seen nearby, suggesting additional updates are proceeding alongside the paint and texture refresh.
As of writing, there is no official reopening date for the Jungle Cruise listed on the Disneyland Resort website or otherwise officially announced by the company.
Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise is a riverboat attraction located in Adventureland at Disneyland Park and also at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. First opening with the park on July 17, 1955, the ride takes park guests on a slow-moving boat journey through dense jungle environments inspired by rivers of Asia, Africa, and South America.
The experience is led by a live skipper who delivers a scripted (and often improvised) series of jokes and commentary as the boat passes animatronic wildlife, waterfalls, and humorous scenes depicting explorers and wildlife encounters.
Over the decades, Jungle Cruise has been periodically closed for refurbishment and ride updates several times while preserving its original spirit.
Technical improvements, new animatronics, and revised story elements have been added, including changes in 2021 that refreshed certain scenes and characters to make the attraction more culturally inclusive.
Seasonal overlays such as the “Jingle Cruise” have occasionally transformed the ride during the holiday season, adding festive decorations and alternate story elements.
